Amazons 3D printers are already widely used in the world of 3D printing, but they have a big advantage over conventional printers.
If you’re not familiar with how a 3D printer works, the basic idea is that you attach a special connector to the bottom of the device that allows it to print a model.
These devices are usually a combination of a smartphone, laptop, or tablet, and can print in multiple resolutions at once.
For example, a printer attached to a smartphone can print a 1,200 x 1,800 resolution photo or a 3,000 x 3,200 resolution digital print.
To use the device for 3D modeling, however, you’ll need to download an app that lets you upload a file to the printer and the printer will automatically create a 3-D model from the file.
Apple’s iPrint 3D allows you to upload files to a printer, so you can make a digital model of your own in a matter of minutes.
The iPrint app will create a model of a 3 dimensional object in just a few minutes.
With an iPrint printer, you can print models that are 3-dimensional in a single click, which is why many 3D-printing hobbyists opt for iPrint over other 3D software like iDot.
iPrint works on a wide variety of hardware, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops, and the apps have even been adapted to print out more intricate objects like a head for the film adaptation of the movie “Inside Llewyn Davis.”
Here’s how to use iPrint to print an entire body.
First, download and install iPrint on your iPhone or iPad.
Select the Settings app, then open the Apple Store.
In the left-hand menu, tap Print.
The Print button is a green circle with a checkmark next to it.
Tap the Save button.
This opens the Print Preview window, which lets you print out a model in a fraction of a second.
You can then print the object from the Print preview window, or you can click the Add button to add a new 3D model.
The Add button opens the Add Model window.
Click the Add 3D Model button.
Here, you should see a list of 3d models that you can add to your printer.
You’ll want to select the models that will be printed by iPrint, because iPrint will automatically print out the parts of the model that need to be printed.
You need to specify the resolution, resolution multiplier, and a print speed.
You want to print in a 3:1 ratio, which means you want to start at 1.5 times the resolution of the printed model and work up to the desired print speed of 3.0 millimeters per second.
In this example, I want to use a print resolution of 1,250 x 1.25, and print at a resolution of 2.0 times the print resolution.
Select Add Model, then click Save.
Next, open the app on your Mac or PC.
Open the Settings menu, then tap Printing.
You should see an option for the 3D Print settings, which you can toggle.
Select Print at 1:1 and save your model to your computer.
Once the printer is finished, you’re ready to print the model out.
For the final print, you will need to use the Add App button in the Print View window.
If your app is available, you need to tap the Add Item button in order to add the 3d model to the app.
If not, you have to click the Save icon, then press the Add icon to add your 3d print.
Next up, we’ll explore how to create a head from scratch using the iPrint application.
